It is important to know how the earth scrubs it's air. That is if we are going to be the
generation to clean up the mistakes of prior generations and the generation who refuses to be a part of destroying our universe.
.
First there is rain, rain cleanses the air. As it pours out of the sky, any contamiants
in the air will be grabbed by the rain drops and brought back down to the earth with it. Hence, the term acid rain - a shameful
condition brought about by our industrial way of life. Yet, there are other particulates that will come out in the wash - you can
sense this by the freshness in the air after a long hard rain.
Then there are the flowers, the trees, the plants that flourish all around us. They take
in carbon and spew out air. Thusly, acting as a filter for any contamiants in the air also. And this is why it is so important that the
rain forrests of the world survive this world as they are. We can not loose them, not in the least. We will go to war to protect
self interests of big business, (U.S. vs. Vietnam) or to protect the interest of the Jews in Israel so that they can continue to get
the water they need, (U.S. vs. Iraq, a little note here, we [the U.S.] didn't go to war over oil in the mid-east, it is about the
water. Saddam Hussein was damning up the two most important important rivers in the Mid-East, the tigres and the
Euphrates.)
Yet this is an important side bar - water and water shortages. We will stick to the
point - rain forrests also produce fresh water that someway makes i's way to other countries and other water estuaries.
Through transpiration and not through desalination. This also helps cool down the world. We must head up a fight against the
destruction of the Earth Lung. And as we destroy this ever important part of the earth we need to work towards substituting
other forms of air purifying plants and cotton is the principle benefactor; in other words, it is a wise replacement choice.
Cotton absorbs up to twenty times it's weight in carbon to build it's cotton yeild.
Although cotton only grows in warmer parts of thge world, it can grow in the wilderness where no man is set to go. Left alone
to grow in a warm cliimate it can grow forever and the heavier it gets the more carbon it can take out of the air to purify it. This
is a natural way to do things and if taken up, would not cost an arm and a leg to implement. Should we ever need a paper
resource replacement, the cotton fibers yeild a wonder paper by-product.
While natural filters are fine we can also propduce water flowers - this takes a little
imagination and is generally pictured by watching children in the summer time playing in play grounds or pools equipped with
this sort of shower head - one tht shots out water in hundreds of streams. Now if planted in the oceans and self powered these
would not require any use of land and would not be intrusive to worry about - they would be a continuous air scrubber.
Right now, many things here are just thoughts and ideas to give us something
to consider. Eventually these thoughts and ideas will move forward to realizations. Your help will be greatly needed as we move
into a new century and a new way of life.
So what would your choice be and what are you willing to do about it?
There is more to discuss here so stay posted.
